Jakarta -
Russian Blockbusters and Arthouse Films Come to Indonesia
On July 5, 2025, Jakarta will host the first Russian Film Day Indonesia 2025 screening convention, organized by ROSKINO with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. The screenings will be part of the Kinosuite Consulate International Film Program, a specialized initiative within the Kinosuite International Indonesian Film Festival that promotes films from different countries and fosters international partnerships in the field of cinema.
For the first time, Indonesian viewers will have the opportunity to become broadly acquainted with the diverse trends and genres of Russian cinema. The Russian Film Day program will include blockbusters like the war drama His Name Was Not Listed (2025, dir. Sergei Korotaev) and the fairy tale The Enchanted Tinderbox (2024, dir. Alexander Voitinsky), as well as art house cinema films that have participated in several international film festivals – the drama Endless Winter (2024, dir. Nikolai Larionov) and the documentary Roman Kostomarov: Born Twice(2024, dir. Mikhail Shchedrinsky), as well as the dramatic comedy Three of Us (2024, dir. Alexandra Sarana).
These free screenings will take place at CGV Cinemas Central Park.
Indonesia will become another new destination in ROSKINO's calendar of events and will expand the company's geographical reach in Southeast Asia, an important region for Russian content exporters. Russian Cinema Day Indonesia 2025 will be held as part of a program of film events between Russia and the Republic of Indonesia (the reciprocal Indonesian Film Festival in Russia will take place in July 2025).
ROSKINO CEO Elsa Antonova comments: "We try different formats at our festivals, and for the second time this year we will present our cinema in the format of Russian Film Day. We organized a similar event in Nepal in April, and now we are delighted to be part of the Indonesian festival's film program. Given the focus of this film festival, the screening program includes several outstanding arteur projects in various genres. We hope that the Indonesian audience's interest in Russian cinema will grow."
For the war drama His Name Was Not Listed from Gazprom-Media Holding, screenings in Indonesia are not the first international event as part of Russian film festivals around the world: earlier, this 2025 release was met with enthusiasm by audiences in Iran and Vietnam. Films dedicated to the Great Patriotic War are among the main attractions of this year's program, in honor of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. His Name Was Not Listedtells the story of the defense of the Brest Fortress, which was one of the first to withstand the onslaught of the Nazi invaders in June 1941.
As part of Russian Film Day, the documentary project Roman Kostomarov: Born Twice will be presented—an incredible story about strength of spirit, overcoming adversity, and the thirst for life. This film is about Olympic champion, two-time world champion, three-time Russian and European champion in ice dancing Roman Kostomarov, who was nearly killed by a sudden illness in January 2023. Doctors were forced to amputate the athlete's feet and fingers. He survived, embarked on the road to recovery, and 11 months later was back on the ice with his partner Tatiana Navka to perform the famous “Carmen” program that had won them the Olympic gold medal.
